Lincoln is a charming cathedral city which is a popular destination for short breaks and weekend breaks. Famous for both its cathedral and Christmas market, the city attracts visitors throughout the year.

There's no need to leave the comfort of the hotel to grab a bite to eat but if you fancy going further afield, you'll find a wealth of restaurants to suit. In close proximity to Holiday Inn Express Lincoln City Centre is the Brayford Waterfront which hosts a variety of different cuisines including Mexican, Italian, and traditional English.

The High Street and Steep Hill of Lincoln contain many delicious restaurants at reasonable prices such as the Lamb and Flag and the Slug and Lettuce. Alternatively, you can try a steak at Wig and Mitre, or a pie at Brown's Pie Shop.

You will also be spoilt for choice in the 'Bailgate' entrance to the city where you can find some finer restaurants such as multi-award winning The Old Bakery dating built in 1837, the stylish Grille Bar, or high-quality Cafe Zoot.

All our reception staff are more than happy to assist you in booking tables or transport to your chosen destination during your stay.

At the Brayford Pool, visitors can experience Lincoln's boat trip during the summer which sails down the oldest Roman Canal in England. This fifty-minute journey welcomes passengers aboard with an onboard bar, indoor and outdoor seating also welcoming dogs on a lead.

For adults, tickets cost £6.50, and children tickets cost £4.00. The Waterfront is also a pleasant venue to dine, drink and walk along.

At the peak of the Steep Hill, the cobbled Castle Square is located beside the tourist information. To the left is Lincoln Castle, an exciting experience open for viewing.

To the right of the square, is the magnificent Lincoln Cathedral (one of the tallest buildings in the world) whether you are outside, inside or on one of the Tower Tours that are provided two to three times a day, it is certainly worth the visit!

At the free entrance the Museum of Lincolnshire Life on Burton Road is an interesting place to visit to witness what life in the region was like in times gone by. Just down the road, Ellis Mill offers tours of the mill and how it works. You can buy freshly ground flour from here.

The Lawn is an elegant green space in the higher part of Lincoln which is a nice hot spot for families, with a smart gift shop, play park, and different coffee shop set in Sir Charles Bank Conservatory, a lovely greenhouse.

One of the things Lincoln is most famous for is the Christmas Market - one of the largest Christmas Markets in Europe. This spans over four days and attracts thousands from all around the world, whether visitors or stall holders.

Having offered an exclusive festive experience for almost thirty years, the market revels in its stalls, funfair rides and traditional events such as beer barrel rolling.

Visit the Waterfront for the Odeon nine-screen multiplex cinema and catch the latest blockbuster.

Shopping in Lincoln We are proud to overlook (originally an old Railway Station) St Mark's Shopping Centre- a retail park with some of the larger stores such as Debenhams, M&Co, Mamas and Papas, British Home Stores etc.
